MY NIGERIAN SISTERS

When brotherhood leads to empowerment

ITALY, NIGERIA/ 2005 / 33 MIN

Women’s resilience is the active engine of the world. With this film I’ve tried to return to the public the dignity that these girls deserve beyond the contingency of their situation.”

Rita, Rosemary and Joy are forced to come back to Benin City after a frustrating migration experience in Europe. Reintegrating into their countries of origin is not easy. Who has migrated knows that will always live among two cultures, often ricking to loose herself. But they do not want to travel again. When their families and communities encourage them to emigrate again they unite in mutual solidarity and become “sisters”.
